Photographs/Costumes/Makeup: Paweł Totoro Adamiec

Paweł Adamiec’s collection of costume photography features portraits from various projects spanning the decade from 2012 to 2022.  The collection showcases the author’s fascination with different styles of image shaping and characterisation. In addition to their main theme, the human figure, the photographs incorporate plant materials as well as creatively converted waste materials, which is in keeping with upcycling principles.

By modifying and deconstructing ordinary objects, the artist gives them new functions, meanings, and associations. These unique combinations of colors, textures, and shapes create intricate stories and varied characterisations of the photo’s subjects. The author breaks the “fourth wall” by having the figures in the photos make eye contact with the viewers, inviting them into unreal worlds.
