The leaves of Victoria Regia – Wioletta Stafińska’s installation | a special production of Workshops of Culture
Victoria amazonica, also known as Victoria regia, is a plant that is indigenous to the Amazon basin and is referred to as “Atun Sisac” by native Indians. It is typically grown in temperate climate in botanic gardens, where it floats on the waters of heated pools. Under favourable circumstances, it appears in urban settings but this phenomenon is extremely rare and lasts only seven hours.
