Within the walls of the historic Krakowska Gate, the inaugural Eastern Photography Festival will showcase a poignant exhibition featuring the works of Ludwik Hartwig and his son Edward. Drawn from the rich collections of the National Museum in Lublin, these photographs offer a compelling glimpse into Lublin’s past and its remarkable reconstruction following the devastation of World War II.
The first exhibition presents a poignant selection of images captured by Ludwik Hartwig in the aftermath of Lublin’s destruction in September 1939.Complementing his father’s work, Edward Hartwig’s photographs chronicle the city’s remarkable reconstruction during the 1950s.
To further explore the Hartwig legacy, join us for a screening of a captivating documentary film dedicated to the family. The film features insights from Ewa-Hartwig Fijałkowska, a representative of the next generation of renowned photographers.
